Fundraising deadline this Friday!!!

It's Tuesday night and I'm headed to bed after a nice swim set. I've got a two hour ride tomorrow at 5 am. Where is all of this discipline coming from? It's now two and a half weeks until Ironman and I've never felt so confident. I'm going to rip up this course.

As it stands now, we have raised $7257 to fight blood cancers like Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma. That puts us $1243 away from my $8500 goal. If you can donate please head over to my fundraising page at http://www.active.com/donate/tntgla/MattMoline

Hi Matt.. Just wanted to wish you luck on your upcoming IronMan. That ROCKS! You should be proud of yourself... I'm proud of you. I know how hard it is to just get off the couch when you're overweight (I've got about 80lbs to lose)... let alone excercise. You've accomplished a MAJOR feat, Major. Rock on, Matt.

PS- I just made a tiny donation towards your goal :-)

Now, does all the money you're "raising" include the 72K you stole from your wife?!?

lola, that's a well crafted, insightful comment and I appreciate your contribution to the discussion. If anyone doubts the legitimacy of Team in Training or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, feel free to visit their website at http://www.teamintraining.org/chapter.adp?chapter_id=14. If you'd like to verify my involvement with the organization, feel free to contact them.

So how does the fundraising work--do you have to make the goal to do the event, or are you "in" ==

I don't know how you IronPeople fit in all this training (I've done marathons and it's a completely huge commitment) so rock on and thumbs up to Team in Training efforts

After signing up for the TNT program back in October, I had three fundraising deadlines. The first was $1000 by 12/15. The second was $4250 by March 5th. The final deadline is $8500 this weekend. At each deadline you are given the option to opt out or recommit. When you recommit, you agree to meet the next fundraising goal or make up the difference yourself. If I don't hit $8500 by Friday at 5 PDT, I will fork over the difference. In addition to the fundraising, I was responsible for paying the $450 race fee (Ironmans are crazy expensive) and a $150 signup fee with TNT. 75% of the money raised goes to research, the other 25% goes to running the charity's offices, hotel rooms, plane tickets, etc.

Howdy Matt...

This week has been the worst for me. My fiance just took off after three years together. I just moved to a new job and bought a house so we'd being our life together. Not the case. I'm just left with the mortgage (that I really can't afford without his income)I guess I'm just gonna have to throw myself into gym. Any tips to help get over being crushed??

Good luck with your ironman!!

Tina

Oh, I've always wondered how it works. I have donated to TNT efforts by friends (marathons) -- that's got to be as much work as the actual Ironman training. I am writing this from Idaho -- good luck, best wishes, stay strong....
